Nick Gentry is an exceptional contemporary artist who compose oil painting portraits with obsolescent media like Floppy disks, vintage film negatives, x-rays and microfilm. Featured in countless galleries in the USA and the UK, Gentry artistic vision of recycling have helped to reutilize these kind of obsolete media to highlight the evolution of consumerism, the rise of technology and virtual culture. The London based artist strive to involve the contributors, viewers and the artist together by obtaining his art material from these individuals.
Gentry's artwork produces the intelligence of crowd involvement in art pieces, found art and documented memories to reproduce bold statement art pieces that highlights technology, art and contemporary culture. Gentry's art help pay tributes on how individuals have depended on these obsolescent media; to capture every little aspects of their life by reusing them in creating archaeological displays of a conversation between analog and digital history. Nick Gentry will have a solo show of his latest artwork at the C24 Gallery in July 2016.
