Made of Stone - The Stone Roses Documentary
The Stone Roses made their name as the founding fathers of the world famous Madchester music scene. Alongside the Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets, lead singer Ian Brown fused dance music and alternative and psychedelic rock to create a musical revolution that's influence can still be heard 25 years on. Not just a name within the music culture, they retain an influence on fashion, politics and art still to this day. Five years after their smash debut the band split. Having spent 16 years apart, The Stone Roses reunited in 2012, stating that they expect to release what will be a greatly anticipated album in 2015.
In the meantime, however, fans can dip into the world of the one of the biggest bands of all time with their soon to be released documentary: "The Stone Roses: Made of Stone". The documentary follows the band as the musicians prepare for a host of shows in their hometown of Manchester.
Award winning director and lifelong fan, Shane Meadows, was granted intimate access; resulting in never-seen-before-footage, capturing personal moments between the bandmates and a cameo from Oasis's Liam Gallagher.
Rolling Stone magazine recently said, as a fan, "Meadows doesn't just focus on the present – he's also bringing the Stone Roses' storied past to light", adding "footage of the band's sudden rise and aggravated dissolution fill the backdrop of one of British rock's most massive reunions."
Made of Stone will be in selected theaters from November 6, and will be available on December 3rd on DVD.
