Jeff Bridges releases a sleep time remedy
Actor Jeff Bridges, commonly known as “The Dude” for his role in Big Lebowski is making his way into the record album industry. Bridges has released an album titled “Sleeping Tapes”—being exactly what it sounds like—Bridges released the album with the objective to help the restless sleep.
On the website accompanying the project, Bridges writes, "The world is filled with too many restless people in need of rest—that's why I filled my sleeping tapes with intriguing sounds, noises and other things to help you get a good night's rest."
The humorous yet practical album is a mix of tracks with Bridges telling stories, improvising conversations and guiding the listener through a walking tour of Temescal Canyon. Bridges deep voice mixed with calming tones is the perfect naptime remedy. The album begins with spiral-like tones complementing Bridges voice, as he mutters absent-mindedly about the project surrounding the album. The album’s tone slowly shifts into a surrealistic sound with bizarre story telling. The album offers the listener an ambient experience, comedic remarks and a captivating time making Bridges album a must have.
Buying the album is more beneficial than it may seem, 100 percent of the proceeds will be going toward the No Kid Hungry campaign, including the shipping and service fees. Bridges is a long-time spokesperson for the campaign.
Keefus Ciancia, who is known for his music creations on “True Detective” and “Nashville”, composed the album. Lou Beach was the designer of the album cover, showing a portrait of man with 12 eyes. The album cover is die cut, when the album lining is pulled out, the illustration’s eyes go to sleep. Beach also wrote four of the stories told by Bridges on the album.
A high quality, limit edition copy of the record can be bought for $200. Including a 180-gram vinyl plate made from golden wax with a gold lead pressed album cover featuring Beach’s artwork.
