The beauty industry is a billion dollar a year beast. All of those resources come together to create some truly astounding products, and the quality of available makeup, hair tools and skincare lines are unlike anything available before. But these endless options come with a steep price, draining your bank account and the free time you have. No one except supermodel wants to spend hours getting ready for work, and no amount of skin rejuvenation is worth having to take out a second mortgage. So here is a look at five of the top beauty tips experts swear will save you time and money. Incorporate some or all of these into your daily routine and you won’t be disappointed.

First of all, skip the fancy moisturizers. In most cases your skin will be just fine with something you can find in any supermarket, such as Vaseline. It’s quite natural, and will work just as well as the miracle creams that are marketed everywhere you look.

Just make sure you use it properly. First of all, your skin should be a little bit damp when you apply the Vaseline. If you’re using it on your face you’ll want to wipe it off with a warm, damp cloth after twenty minutes or so. But anywhere else on your body it can remain all night, and you’ll love the results.

When it comes to your daily face washing routine, you’ve got to keep it simple. So many products out there advertise their specific formula designed for your face, and in most cases there is no difference at all. Instead of buying several different soaps and spending your precious minutes on it, go with a cleansing wipe instead.

Most name brands offer one. They smell great, take only a few seconds to do the job and leave you feeling incredibly fresh and clean. It’s also a great way to wake yourself up quickly when you don’t have time for coffee.

Next, consider cutting down on the amount of makeup you put on every day. You’ve just got to face it, most of the time the makeup doesn’t look nearly as good on you as it does on the ladies on those billboards. Less will always be more.

If you pack on too much you’ll end up looking older than you want to, and unless you are a cosmetologist you might not even be applying it correctly. Just go with a little bit of foundation and one product that highlights your best features. You’ll save a ton of money and time every single morning.

You’ve probably tried a wide range of products to help clear up your complexion. But have you looked at your diet and overall health routine? The fact is that many skin problems can be solved just by drinking enough water and eating a balanced diet.

You need the right vitamins and minerals for healthy skin, and it usually comes down to getting enough fruits and vegetables. An added multivitamin will do far more for your face than expensive creams and treatments. Exercise regularly, eat well, and you’ll find you need to spend far less on skincare.

Finally, look for ways to take advantage of your natural hair. Women spend thousands of dollars each year trying to change their locks. From dyes to perms to chemical treatments, the money just flies out the window. And hours reading flat iron reviews looking for the best product won’t really solve the problem.

Instead, look for a hairstyle that makes use of your hair as it already occurs. Every color can be beautiful with a great cut. And styling costs far less than color and processing treatments. Keep it simple and you’ll be much happier in the long run.
