BACKSTAGE #5: THE GUMMY BEAR DRESS
"Behind the scenes of TWELV Magazine's inspired creations"
If you told somebody that you didn’t like gummy bears, they probably wouldn’t believe you, or at least wouldn’t like you. These ursine sweets are adored around the globe, and for good reason; they’re delicious! Twelv’s own editor-in-chief/stylist extraordinaire, Hissa Igarashi - in collaboration with Sayuri Murakami - took his interest in the colorful candies to the extreme, creating “The Gummy Bear Dress.”
Thousands of G bears spanning the set of primary colors were fused to the dress’s hand-made frame, creating an eccentric, one-of-a-kind piece of edible fashion. Model Jessica Pitti looked striking in dark licorice makeup penciled by Akiko Sakamoto and - contrasting the draping dress - short hair styled by Yoichi Tomizawa. It took a large team of talent from Marbles & Marbles Production to orchestrate the shoot and piece together the massive project. The finished product was a massive rainbow of gummy goodness, captured in all of its vivid glory by photographer Chek Wu.
The shoot was a ton of fun, and only a few gummies were harmed in the process. The G Bear Dress appeared in Issue 1 of Twelv Magazine: Love. Check out the sweet images to your right, and maybe grab some gummy bears to snack on while you’re gazing.
