Last week on May 16th, the TWELV team was generously invited to HENRIK VIBSKOV's three year anniversary gathering at his boutique in Manhattan. Though the weather proved cloudy and gray, the boutique was still flooded with incredible talents, artists, and recognizable figures. Most of the crowd -- a gorgeous bunch -- mingled all over the boutique. Some were huddled along the boutique's edges, while others floated from group to group. Beers with HENRIK's original work on the labels were served to all attendees, as everybody gasped in light of realization. The music -- also essential -- paired nicely with his environment.
VIBSKOV himself was quite eccentric -- his face lit up as familiar faces poured through the door. Luckily, we were lucky enough to quickly chat with him, and he shared his thoughts with us as one of New York's most up and coming successful designers:
MARIE: Why do you design clothes? What does it mean to you?
HENRIK: Next to the Internet, clothing is one of the fastest communication tools in the world. The way we appear in public spaces without talking, or how we do or don’t physically attract to each other – the whole communication system is very fast.
MARIE: Where do you get your inspiration from?
HENRIK: From all kinds of sources – it could be many different things. It could be anywhere from African dance, artwork, museum trips, or just lying down or walking.
He was kind and warm-hearted. Even though it was a short chat, his words and attitude were enough to feel his passion and vision. We wish for his continued success and hope HENRIK continues to challenge Manhattan’s scene. Congratulations HENRIK VIBSKOV from the TWELV team!
