VIKTOR & ROLF S/S2015 COUTURE COLLECTION
“Couture is a laboratory for ideas and a place for experimentation,” said Rolf Snoeren at the Victor & Rolf Haute Couture show in Paris. And experiment they certainly did. The collection is eccentric, charming, and “bucolic”, as Hamish Howles, Editor At Large of Vogue acutely put it. 21 looks were paraded down the runway, each a slightly different representation of summer and purity taken to the extreme.
Vibrant, exaggerated floral patterns adorned oversized and dramatically shaped sundresses of varying lengths. The hues morphed from black and white to blazing primary colors as the show progressed, and the ubiquitous straw hats became larger and more unwieldy. Chains of large, earth-tone flowers extended from the bottoms of dresses to the outer rims of hats, adding a whimsical and pleasantly bizarre touch to the already avant-garde procession.
The models’ gait was decidedly slow and deliberate as atmospheric deep house music enveloped the onlookers. Even with all of the frill and flourish, the looks were all inherently feminine and sexy. Check out the uncommonly gorgeous collection to the right. Enjoy!
