"On Your Mind" by Eyelid Kid: The Epitome of Frosting Pop

October 13, 2015 10:00 AM

Paul Grant, otherwise known as Eyelid Kid, refers to his style of music as “colorful, drugged-out, frosting pop.”

After watching the Austin-based artist’s newest music video for the Eyelid Kid single “On Your Mind”, we have to agree. The video, directed by Garson Ormiston and filmed in Austin, Texas, follows Eyelid Kid through a dreamy house party—complete with an ethereal dance bash and spacey pool scenes. If anything, the video articulates the shared human experience of community, love, lust, and fun, while simultaneously conveying a sense of nostalgia for good times past.

As for the inspiration behind “On Your Mind” itself? Grant says he was at one moment “at a sidebar drunkenly declaring what [he] wanted out of life” and then “woke up hunched over [his] 1920s out of tune organ with the lyrics scribbled out on a paper plate.”
